ABQ models Cleveland project to stimulate job growth through UNMH

Reporter Blake Driver delves into the successes of the Cleveland initiatives (Democracy Collaborative partners) and the conglomeration of healthcare facilities, cultural institutions, community foundations, faith-based institutions, public utilities and municipal governments that have all worked together to model inclusive community development. 

The groundbreaking strategy implemented in 2005 in Cleveland, called The UH Difference: Vision 2010, was designed by University Hospitals in order to deploy its economic power for community enhancement. According to the report "The Anchor Mission: Leveraging the Power of Anchor Institutions to Build Community Wealth," compiled by The Democracy Collaborative at the University of Maryland, "The most prominent 'bricks and mortar' feature of Vision 2010 was the new construction of five major medical facilities, as well as the expansion of a number of existing facilities."
