Leslie Harroun - Executive in Residence and Senior Fellow for Strategic Initiatives
Leslie Harroun is executive in residence and senior fellow for strategic initiatives at The Democracy Collaborative. Before joining TDC, Leslie was director of Partners for a New Economy (P4NE), an international donor collaborative focused on economic system change to protect the environment. While with P4NE Leslie championed TDC’s Employee Ownership and Quantitative Easing for the Planet projects, as well as TDC’s banking work that led to the launch of Climate Safe Lending.
Leslie is helping to envision, design, and build out key elements of TDC’s program to grapple with the challenges and opportunities of a post-pandemic world and a new administration in Washington. Her work focuses on advancing an intellectual and academic program of “next system studies” within major universities and colleges. She also will explore opportunities to expand TDC’s base of resources.
Leslie is known as a systems thinker and a bridge builder. As the founding director of P4NE, Leslie helped facilitate the emergence of today’s “new economic paradigm” community among both donors and practitioners, and has supported pioneering work to build alternatives to failing policies, practices and structures across academia, think tanks, business, civil society, and government institutions. Her time in Switzerland with P4NE and the OAK Foundation have provided her with insights and relationships from a broad international community that can help inform and accelerate our efforts.
