CWB Networks

The role of networks is critical to the advancement of Community Wealth Building. Not only do communities of practice provide practitioners and scholars an opportunity to connect and collaborate, they also serve as a vehicle for movement-building.

The Democracy Collaborative supports the convening, facilitation, and direction-setting of two networks:

  • The CWB Community of Practice;

  • The Global Academics and Researchers Network (GARN)

Community of Practice

The CWB Community of Practice is a group of professionals across the United States advancing CWB in their respective localities. Representing city and/or county governments or intermediary or backbone nonprofit/community-based organizations working in coalition to make change through CWB, these practitioners learn from each other, explore successes and how to build on them, tackle major challenges, and unpack key issues in the CWB movement. The collective thinking of this group informs both the research work and narrative agenda for TDC. For more information about the Practitioners’ Network, please contact Sarah McKinley, Director of Community Wealth Building Programs, at smckinley@democracycollaborative.org

Global Academic and Researcher Network (GARN)

The Global Academic and Researcher Network (GARN), is a group of scholars from around the world deliberately advancing the study of CWB to further develop the concept, deepen practice, and supplement the movement. By enhancing these academic linkages globally, GARN is building the legitimacy of CWB in both policy and practice. To learn more about GARN, please contact Neil McInroy, Global Lead, Community Wealth Building, at nmcinroy@democracycollaborative.org.
