Communications Consultant

Joana Ramiro has joined The Democracy Collaborative as a Communications Consultant following a decade working as a journalist, writer, and commentator. 

She has worked for media outlets in the United States, Britain and across Europe, often covering progressive politics, social affairs, and environmental issues. Some of her bylines include The Associated Press, Voice of America, BBC World Service and The Guardian. 

Joana has also worked as a researcher for media organisations and various non-fiction authors. She is the co-translator of Intonations by Marissa Moorman (Ohio University Press, 2008) into Portuguese.

She holds an MSc in Middle East Politics from SOAS, London.
